Agnes - Narrator
Ethel - Narrator
Mabel - Narrator
Virgil Sludge - a simple fellow with a big dream
Margaret Sludge - Virgil's patient wife
Ellard- Virgil's best friend since childhood
Betha Mae- Virgil's sister and Ellard's wife for the past 15 years
Peter the Meter Reader- Has a crush on Bertha Mae
Gertha- Has a crush on Ellard
Rhett- Lives inside Annabelle's head (non-speaking role)
Mrs. Sophia Tishwater- President of the Cultural Arts Committee in Hollywood, Alabama
Mr. Tishwater- Mrs. Tishwater's henpecked husband
Crank Dillinger- Resident of Hollywood, Alabama and is true to his name...he's cranky
Annabelle Dillinger- Crank's crazy daughter who has been head-over-hills for Virgil since high school
Deputy- The deputy of Hollywood, Alabama who dresses and acts like Barney Fife
Young Virgil- Portrays Virgil as a young boy
Ms. Dingledine- Virgil's 6th grade teacher
Extras- People in Hollywood Park, Members of the Cultural Arts Committee
